Images of the Vanishing West |
About the PhotographerPhotography is my Grandma Moses epiphany. When I announced my retirement, the family said, “You HAVE to have a hobby.” My father had been a freelance writer and photographer, so having that exposure, I bought a Canon 20D and started taking pictures. To my surprise, I found a passion and the results were well received. I grew up when the West was not raw, perhaps more medium-rare, living in the prairie portion of Wyoming and in Alaska while it was still a territory. Now I find myself once again tethered on the cusp of that same wind-shredded prairie. Coming in on the tail end of the homestead era, whose outbuildings and machinery are rapidly giving way to the forces of time, has piqued my interest in digitally capturing what I can of the remaining rustic elements of the plains. Thus the slogan “Images of the Vanishing West”. Almost all of the photos are au naturel, not enhanced by Photoshop. Those that have been are so noted with an asterisk (*). I hope you enjoy the pictures! All purchased pictures are signed and dated. Your comments, as I continue to hone my craft, are welcome. |
